How The Process Works
1. Submit an Adoption Application
Every adoption begins with an online application. Our team reviews each submission to determine whether the dog may be a good fit for your home and lifestyle.
2. Phone Interview
If your application aligns with the dog’s needs, we will contact you to schedule a phone interview. This conversation helps us learn more about your experience, expectations, and home environment.
3. Video Call With the Foster.
Qualified applicants are connected with the dog’s foster home for a video meet and greet. This allows you to see the dog’s personality and ask detailed questions about behavior, routine, and training progress.
4. Virtual Home Visit + Reference Checks
A virtual home check, along with personal and veterinary reference checks, is required to complete the approval process.
5. Transport to Your State
Once approved, your dog will be placed on the next available transport. Transports run every few weeks and the fee is included in the adoption donation.
*If you cannot welcome a dog until a later date, please apply when you are ready to adopt.
Important Notes For Applicants
Serious applicants only:
Because we are a volunteer run rescue, each team member donates their time to these dogs, we ask that you please apply only if you are fully committed to the adoption process. If other household members share decision‑making authority, ensure they are on board before applying. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting one of our dogs.
Breed & age estimates:
Listed breed, age, and projected adult size are our best educated guesses based on veterinary guidance. Most rescue dogs do not come with reliable background information, and exact breed mixes or ages are rarely known
Transport availablity:
We transport adopted dogs to select cities within the East Coast, Midwest and Pacific Northwest. As well as some Territories of Canada where adopters are able to cross the border to meet our transporter at a designated U.S. pick up point.
Currently, we do not have the means to adopt and transport everywhere in the country.
If you have questions about transport to a specific city and state. Please email us prior to submitting your application.
